The New Dad Class Covers the Following
How to foster a secure attachment with baby
What to expect during pregnancy and that first year
How to provide instrumental and emotional support
How to clarify values related to fatherhood and apply them in real-time
How to head-off or handle typical conflicts and support the relationship
How to take care of yourself and manage any stress related to new parenthood
What The Dad School Is
- ✓Evidence-based fatherhood education (attachment + developmental science)
- ✓Practical skills for the first year (sleep deprivation included)
- ✓Dads-only small group: accountability, support, and real talk
- ✓A modern model of fatherhood: competent, emotionally present, and useful at home
What It Isn’t
- ×Therapy (though it’s psychologically informed)
- ×Dad-bashing or macho “alpha dad” content
- דOne weird trick” parenting, guilt, or shame
- ×A passive, self-paced video course with zero support
- ×Theory without practicality
Why The Dad School?
The Dad School was founded by Dr. David Kyle Bond, a developmental psychologist and therapist specialized in working with men. When he learned he was going to be a first-time dad, he quickly realized that there wasn't much out there to support men in making the transition to fatherhood, even though the men in his life cared deeply about being supportive partners and high-quality parents. The Dad School (and the First-Time Dads Class) aims to fill this gap. We provide science-backed, comprehensive support for fathers, focused on providing the skills and reflection necessary to manage the transition into this new life stage with a clear focus on holistically taking care of every member of the family. Alumni walk away with clarity on their values, practical skills to support secure attachment with their babies, and targeted skills addressing the toughest parts of that first year (like sharing the mental load). With the shift into live, virtual offerings, we now have the chance to support men everywhere (not just the Los Angeles area).
We know that families do best when both partners are supported from pregnancy to the end of that first year (or so). We know that new mothers benefit from the exact kind of community and support you're already providing, and we know that men want to step up and be there for their partners and their new babies. So: if the new dads in your network would be a good fit, we'd love to hear from them, and we'd love to be a resource for you, as well.

A note from David Kyle Bond, PhD
Thanks for considering The Dad School as part of your work supporting moms, dads, and babies. When I couldn’t find good educational resources in the run up to my son’s birth, I finally understood what my friends who’d become dads earlier were saying—that they wanted clarity on what to do and how to grow into this new identity but felt forced into giving up after finding that almost nothing spoke directly to their own unique experiences. The men I work with today are immensely motivated to do right by their partners and to live up to their own expectations for how to act and show up in their families. They know that expectations have shifted, and they’re on board. Some find mentors and close friends to support them, but the reality is that most do not get this lucky—and most of what’s out there for isn’t accessible and rooted in developmental science. I’ve watched countless new dads find their footing through this course and manage the transition into fatherhood with less stress, greater focus, and significantly better relationships with their partners. New moms report feeling more supported—and in turn, new dads report feeling even more motivation to be engaged fathers and partners. It’s a win-win. I hope you’ll help us reach the next generation of new dads. If there is anything I can answer, or if you’d just like to hear a bit more about our courses, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
